Hot Honey Pork Tenderloin Sliders

Tender, juicy pork tenderloin seasoned with my Sweet Rub, glazed with my Hot Honey BBQ Sauce, piled on soft Hawaiian rolls, and topped with tangy pickled red onions, these BBQ pork sliders make an amazing game-day snack or easy weeknight dinner.

Hot Honey Pork Tenderloin Sliders

If you ask me, pork tenderloin is one of the most underrated cuts you can grill. Not only is it super affordable, it cooks quickly and takes on flavor beautifully. With this recipe, you’ll season the tenderloin with my Sweet Rub, glaze it with my Hot Honey BBQ Sauce, pile it onto sweet Hawaiian rolls, and top with some pickled red onions for brightness. With all the flavor and texture going on here, these sliders are basically a BBQ joint on a bun.

I actually made a version of these for a demo at the Winter Fancy Faire in San Diego, and they were such a hit I had to share the recipe with you. If you’re ready to make sweet, spicy, saucy sliders that will disappear faster than you can stack them, let’s get started.

Ingredients for Hot Honey Pork Tenderloin Sliders

You don’t need to spend a fortune on groceries to feel like a Backyard BBQ Hero. These sliders take just 6 ingredients. Here’s what you’ll want on hand so you can get started:

Variations and Substitutions

Now, I love the contrast the spicy-sweet sauce and bright onions bring to the party, but it’s not for everyone. The great news is you can use this recipe as a jumping-off point if you want to create something totally your own. Here are some things to try:

How to Grill Hot Honey Pork Tenderloin Sliders

  1. Preheat the grill. Set your grill up for two-zone heat with an overall temperature of 350 degrees F. I love to grill my tenderloins over charcoal for a little lovely charring, but you can also make them on a gas grill.
  2. Season the pork. Drizzle the pork with avocado oil, then coat evenly (and generously) with the Sweet Rub. The brown sugar helps with that caramelized charring on the exterior.
  3. Grill the tenderloins. Place the tenderloins in the center of the grill and give them 4 to 6 minutes per side, rotating a quarter turn each time. Make sure to keep the lid closed in between to capture all the smoky goodness.
  4. Glaze and grill. When your tenderloins hit 135 degrees F, grab a basting brush and slather on a healthy dose of Hot Honey BBQ Sauce. Close the lid and give the grill about 10 minutes to bubble and caramelize the sauce. When your pork hits an internal temperature of 145 degrees F, transfer it to a cutting board.
  5. Rest and slice. Give the tenderloins 5 to 7 minutes to rest so all the juices can redistribute. After that, grab a sharp knife and slice the pork into thick medallions.
  6. Assemble the sliders. Slice your rolls in half, pile on the sliced pork and some pickled red onions, drizzle with a little extra Hot Honey BBQ Sauce, and maybe sneak 1 in before stacking them for serving. Once you drop the platter, these sliders will vanish fast.

How Long to Grill Pork Tenderloin

You can estimate an average pork tenderloin to grill using the method to take about 25 minutes. When it comes to tenderloin (or any meat), cooking to temperature is the key. Every cut of meat and grill surface is a little different, so cooking times are always just a guideline. The USDA recommends cooking pork to an internal temperature of 145 degrees F, which is perfect for this recipe. Make sure you’ve got a reliable meat thermometer, and remember to add the sauce at around 135 degrees F.

Serving Suggestions

One of my favorite things about sliders is their versatility, and these pork tenderloin sliders are no exception. The size makes sliders a shareable, standout snack at any game day or potluck, but they’re filling enough that 1 or 2 could serve as a main dish. Here are some ideas to round things out, no matter which route you go:

  • Preheat the grill. Set your grill up for two-zone heat, meaning one side with direct heat, the other with indirect heat, and an overall temperature of 350 degrees F.

  • Prepare the pork. Drizzle the pork tenderloins on all sides with avocado oil, then sprinkle them evenly on all sides with the Sweet Rub.

2 pounds pork tenderloin, 1 teaspoon avocado oil, 1 Tablespoon Hey Grill Hey Sweet Rub

  • Grill the tenderloins. Place the pork tenderloin on the center of the grill, close the lid, and cook for 4-6 minutes. The pork tenderloin should have nice grill marks and release easily from the grill. Turn the pork tenderloin ¼ turn, close the lid, and continue cooking for 4–6 minutes. Repeat this process twice more, until all four sides of the tenderloin have been grilled and the internal temperature of the pork reads 135 degrees F with an instant-read meat thermometer. The whole process should take between 15 and 20 minutes.

  • Glaze and grill. Once your pork tenderloin is at 135, it is time to baste with the Hot Honey BBQ Sauce. Use a basting brush to paint the sauce on all sides of the pork tenderloin, turning it on the grill as needed. Baste and rotate the pork on the grill until the internal temperature reads 145 degrees F and the sauce is caramelized and sticky on the outside of the pork.

  • Rest and serve. Remove the pork tenderloins to a serving platter and allow them to cool for 5-7 minutes before slicing into medallions.

  • Assemble the sliders. Using a large bread knife, slice the rolls in half, separating the tops from the bottoms. Set aside the tops of the rolls. Layer the pork tenderloin medallions on the bottom half of the rolls, top each roll with a few sliced of red onion, and drizzle with more of the Hot Honey BBQ Sauce. Place the other half of the rolls on top of everything, separate the rolls into individual sliders, serve, and enjoy!
